Guideline On Photographic Image Requirements For National Registration Card And ePassport

e-passport.ProductionofboththeNationalIdentityardandthee-passportisregulatedbythenternationalCivilAviationOrganisation(ICAo)throughtheFacial
Image Standard g3o3. On this note ICAo has requirements on photo image that must be complied with in producing identification and travel documents. To
achieve the requirement the following are the Ministry of Labour and Home Affairs guidelines for taking the ICAO g3o3 compliant facial images:
Pose-the fullface frontal pose shall be used.
Expression-the expression should be neutral with both eyes open normally and not wide open and mouth closed.
Background- the background should be plain, and shall contain no texture containing lines or curves, The background should be a uniform colouror asinglecolour pattern
Lighting-lighting shall beequally distributed ontheface.There shall be no significant direction of the light from the point of view of the photographer.
There shall be no artificial hair extensions and wigs must be removed.

There shall benoportrait styleimages
The face must be centred with no busy background.
No red eye.Red eye is normally caused by tooclose flash light to the face.
No shadows on the face.
No sunglasses.
No glare on glasses
No glare on spectacles

Glasses avoid covering eyes (if possible)
Remove hats and headgears. If headgear is worn for cultural or religious a statutory affdavit must be completed for that purpose.
Remove caps (affects algorithms)
No shadows on face from traditional or religious headgears
Lower veil to expose centre of face from roughly crown to chin and ear to ear.
