How to take a passport photo

Your passport photo must be a portrait image, in colour, and taken within the last 6 months. Selfies are not accepted.

The top reasons passport photos are rejected:

  • The camera is too close or the photo is a selfie (the camera must be about 1.5m away from you).
  • Shadows on face or behind the head (lighting should be even across the face).
